Ring 21 History
Hollywood IBM Ring 21 was first chartered in the spring of 1938 and named after local magician and charter member Caryl Fleming.
Ironically, Caryl Fleming died of a heart attack while onstage performing a card trick. His name is Swedish, and therefore
pronounced Carl.
Some of our more famous Ring 21 members have included; Floyd Thayer, Caryl Fleming, Chester Morris, Arnold Furst, Harold Robbins, William Larsen, Sr., The Great
Leon, Mark Wilson, Daryl and a host of other well-known professional Los Angeles magicians too numerous to name.

Our Events Actively Involve Our Members
Our monthly activities, lectures, workshops, pre-meeting seminars, and highly interactive magic themes are geared to the amateur
to professional prestidigitator, in order to assist in continuously promoting the practice and enjoyment of the ancient Art
of magic.
Quite simply, our goal is to get people out of their seats and actively participating in the performance and learning of our
craft.
Essentially, we our philosophy is that meetings for actively involving our membership. We are performers, not spectators.
Therefore, we gather to exercise, display, learn, perform, enjoy and participate.
Annual Picnic & Halloween Fundraising Magic Show
Annually we enjoy a picnic in July, a swap meet in September, an installation banquet in October and ring in the holidays
with a potluck, magic show and gift exchange each December.
We produce an annual fundraising Halloween Magic Show benefiting both Monlux Elementary School and Ring 21, presenting a grand
opportunity for our magician members to perform for a live audience or work behind the scenes. Both fantastic opportunities
to participate in a Ring activity.
