Although some magicians say they'd like to go out in classic fashion while performing onstage, our namesake experienced that very thing -- a true magicians death.

In fact, a heart attack claimed the life of magician Caryl Fleming while performing a card trick. Quite literally, a true performer to the end.

Born in in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Caryl eventually headed for New York and made a fine living as an actor, director, writer, and magician. Later in his life he was to become a financier.

Although spelled with a "y", his first name is pronounced Carl.
