Longtime IBM Ring 21 member, and former ring president Gerry Schiller will present
a lecture at the March meeting. Gerry's lecture will consist of tricks and routines he's been using for many years
for both adult and children's audiences. Most of the effects can be done with few sleights or none at all and all have
been audience-tested. Included will be a mind-blowing card routine that goes from a color changing deck to a triple revelation
of three chosen cards.
For those who like rope effects there will be Gerry's own rope routine
that incorporates several different rope tricks (including a version of the "Professor's Nightmare")--all done
with non-gimmicked rope. Gerry has created a simple—but highly effective—approach to the classic "Anniversary
Waltz" that anyone doing strolling magic will want to add and it's a trick you'll do over and over again.
"Good
Vibes" is a trick that can be adapted to many different situations and "Mix and Match" is a packet trick that
can also be used (in a different version) with a full deck of cards. Gerry will demonstrate several different approaches
to a borrowed ring vanish and re-appearance in an unusual location.
And for anyone who likes mental magic there will be a book test using three totally un-gimmicked books. There
will also be a demonstration of creating "Magic Squares" that you can quickly learn and amaze an audience with
your mathematical skills.
Most of the demonstrated effects
will be covered in lecture notes.
Be sure to attend
the March meeting and pick up some ideas you can definitely add to your future shows.
